SkyDrill Power Systems senior management team, the founders of the company, came together based on valued and trusted relationships.  Barry Sterling, the President and CEO, understood from the beginning that SkyDrill’s success would be defined in large part by the value of its relationships.  Of course, there was the idea and the vision of what SkyDrill would accomplish that has been attractive to many people.  That each of the founders’ could craft a personal vision of that success is largely due to our ability to see that vision becoming reality by leveraging our own talents and relationships. 

A diagram quickly sketched on paper would reveal that the SkyDrill team members have one degree, or less, of separation between them.  This would be greatly oversimplifying the path that has led us to where we are today.  Though the initial relationships appear very close, the truth is that Barry started with each team member from either a close existing relationship, or from a dynamic one-on-one meeting based on a personal endorsement.  In the end though, each person was persuaded to bring their personal vision of SkyDrill’s success to the company because of a high level of character and integrity.

Because the team came together in this way, there were a lot of frank and very personal discussions that took place.  Additionally, there was a fair amount of personal sacrifice and time devoted while team members were arranging their priorities to become a part of the SkyDrill Team.  This, early on, created a culture of candidness and value placed on honest relationships.  All of the team members have highly valuable backgrounds, experience, and educations.  A majority of the team share in a deep military heritage.  These combined traits ingrain the values of execution and accountability into the culture of SkyDrill.

Not to be understated is a shared dedication to process, methodology and sound engineering.  It is not often that so many trained and educated engineers can come together to work on a completely new and innovative design project.  It is testament to the power of the vision and promise of SkyDrill that such a unique and talented team has been assembled.

It is a result of the focus of the TEAM that we are able to achieve success and to put the various pieces of our business plan together.
